North Mymms is a civil parish in the county of Hertfordshire. Interestingly the area has been also known as North Mimms over the centuries, but in 1939, Hertfordshire County Council decreed in a council meeting that the spelling be fixed as Mymms.
North Mymms has a very active riding club, with a number of dressage, endurance and show jumping competitions run throughout the year, for all levels of ability.
The area also has a very active church – St. Mary’s Church, which has served the parish of North Mymms for over 700 years – with family events, art workshops, services, bell ringing, and exhibitions, which anybody is welcome to attend. Maybe, if you’re part of a church group, you might like to hire a car or minibus from St. Albans Car and Van Hire, and pay a visit to St. Mary’s. The church is open every day for prayer and quiet reflection, and tucked away in the peaceful North Mymms Park area, it’s a place of real tranquillity.
Founded by the Church in 1861, is North Mymms Cricket Club, which has grown considerably over the years, now with four teams and a Colt section. Many people have contributed to the club’s success, and there have been some great achievements, in results and in producing some very fine players.
North Mymms Park is a wonderfully unspoilt parkland area, with an Elizabethan mansion set within. There are a number of set walks, where you can take in the beautiful scenery, with streams, fields, woodlands, lanes, paths and kissing gates. For the avid rambler, the North Mymms area really is one worth adding to the list of walks.
